David Bowie Named Greatest Entertainer Of The 20th Century
The general public in Britain made the decision on Tuesday as part of a poll for the BBC’s Icons TV show, which focuses on some of the most prominent names of that time period.
The ultimate goal of the show is for members of the public to pick “the greatest person of the 20th century” through a vote.
He was pitted against Charlie Chaplin, Billie Holiday, and Marilyn Monroe.
Bowie was the fourth notable person to be picked in the series, as viewers picked Nelson Mandela, Ernest Shackleton, and Alan Turing in the other three categories: greatest leader, explorer, and scientist.
January 10 marked three years since the Ziggy Stardust creator tragically passed away after a private battle with liver cancer – just two days after his 69th birthday.
The late legend will now face Nelson Mandela and Ernest Shackleton in a new poll for the greatest 20th century icon overall.
