Mohamed Salah is set to be rewarded with a prestigious piece of land in Mecca.
The Liverpool forward has had plenty of reasons to celebrate of late, not least because of his Champions League semi-final heroics where he notched two goals and two assists in the first leg against Roma.
But it was his PFA Player of the Year award win that is set to land him one of his most unique prizes to date.
Last weekend he was handed the gong ahead of Kevin De Bruyne as a reward for his 31 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League so far this season.
And now the vice president of the local municipality in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, has revealed that he plans to award a piece of land in the area to Salah as congratulations.
There are several choices regarding giving this piece of land,” Fahd Al-Rowky told My Salaam.
“The way to go will be determined by Mohamed Salah as well as the Saudi system.
“If the Saudi system allows the land to be owned by Salah, he will be given a piece of land in Holy Mecca outside Haram. The other option will be to have a mosque built on the land in his name.”
Salah celebrates each of his goals for Liverpool with an Islamic prayer.
Mecca is the religion’s holiest city as it was the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad.
