Khabib Nurmagomedov Receives Nine-month Suspension And $500K fine For Role In UFC 229 Brawl With Connor McGregor
UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, settled with Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) on Tuesday (lfor his role in the UFC 229 post-fight brawl involving Dillon Danis, Conor McGregor, and a few other goons.
As a result, Khabib will serve a nine-month retroactive disciplinary suspension for leaping over the cage after submitting “Notorious” last October, and will also fork over a $500,000 fine, to be subtracted from the $1 million already being held by the commission.
Nurmagomedov has the opportunity to knock three months off his term if he’s able to film and release a public service announcement, delivering an anti-bullying message for impressionable youth
Abubakar Nurmagomedov and Zubaira Tukhugov, part of the Dagestani hit squad who went after McGregor in the ensuing melee, were suspended one year and fined $25,000.
Nurmagomedov’s suspension will be retroactive to Oct. 6, 2018, meaning Nurmagomedov could be eligible to compete again on April 6, 2019 should the suspension be reduced.
Neither Nurmagomedov nor McGregor were present at Tuesday’s meeting.
