15-year-antique Coco Gauff Defeats Defending Champion, Naomi Osaka At Australian Open
Defending champion Naomi Osaka was knocked out of the Australian Open on Friday, falling 6-3 6-4 in a stunning upset via American teenage sensation Coco Gauff within the 0.33 round.
Osaka become the 0.33 former Open winner to bow out of the draw after Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki, who gained the title in 2017 and 2018, misplaced their respective matches at Melbourne Park earlier inside the day.
Gauff, who lost to Osaka without problems 6-3 6-0 at the U.S. Open last year, prevented a repeat defeat as a string of backhand errors off the Japanese player’s racquet gave the 15-year-vintage the damage midway through the outlet set.
