Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Yvonne Jegede, has opened up about a defining moment in her early career revealing that she almost turned down the opportunity to star in 2Baba’s iconic “African Queen” music video.
In a recent interview, Yvonne disclosed that when she first got the call to feature in the now-legendary video, she wasn’t interested. According to her, she didn’t know much about the project at the time and wasn’t drawn to music video appearances. “I actually said no. I didn’t know what the song was about, and I just wasn’t feeling it at first,” she explained.
It wasn’t until a close friend expressed excitement over the opportunity and reminded her how popular the song was becoming that she reconsidered. “My friend Michael was so excited when I told him. He literally screamed, ‘You must do it!’ That was when I decided to call back and accept,” she added.
