Fayose Bitter After Losing Control of Ekiti PDP, Says Political Group
A political group in Ekiti State has alleged that former governor Ayodele Fayose is “bitter” after losing control over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. The group claimed Fayose’s recent comments and actions reflect frustration following his diminishing influence within the party’s structure.
According to the group, Fayose’s attempt to interfere in party affairs has met strong resistance from a new generation of PDP leaders who are determined to rebuild the Ekiti PDP and restore internal democracy. The group alleged that instead of supporting unity, the ex-governor has resorted to “sponsoring divisions” to remain politically relevant.
“It is clear that former Governor Fayose can’t handle the reality that he no longer controls Ekiti PDP. The party now belongs to the people, not one man,” the group said in a statement released to journalists.
They further accused Fayose of frustrating the party’s progress by allegedly working against candidates who do not align with his personal interests. The group maintained that his era of “one-man dominance” is over, insisting that the new leadership is focused on transparency, inclusiveness, and grassroots mobilization.
Observers in Ekiti politics have noted growing tension between Fayose’s loyalists and new party stakeholders who are determined to reposition the PDP ahead of the next general elections. The recent internal shake-up has reportedly left Fayose sidelined, leading to accusations that he has become “bitter and combative” in his political dealings.
Despite the allegations, Fayose has not officially responded to the group’s claims. However, analysts believe the development signals a shift of power within Ekiti PDP, as younger members continue to assert themselves against the old political guard.
