“Leave Rivers Alone” — Wike Warns APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a strong warning to the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, urging him to stay away from Rivers State politics.
Wike’s reaction followed recent comments credited to Basiru concerning political developments in Rivers State. The former Rivers governor described the remarks as unnecessary interference, stressing that Rivers politics should be left to those directly involved in the state’s affairs.
According to Wike, external political actors should focus on addressing issues within their own political environments rather than attempting to influence or dictate events in Rivers. He maintained that the people of Rivers State are capable of managing their political direction without outside pressure.
The outspoken politician also reaffirmed his continued interest in the political stability of Rivers State, noting that any attempt to destabilise the state under the guise of political commentary would be firmly resisted.
The exchange adds another layer to the ongoing political tensions surrounding Rivers State, which has remained a focal point in national political discourse following recent developments within the state’s political structure.
