Police Arraign Man Over Alleged ₦60m Visa Fraud in Lagos

The Nigeria Police Force has arraigned a man before a Lagos court over an alleged ₦60 million visa fraud, following investigations into claims of false travel documentation and visa processing promises.

According to police prosecutors, the suspect allegedly obtained the sum from multiple victims under the pretext of securing foreign visas and travel opportunities. It was alleged that the victims were issued fake documents or left without visas after payments were made.

The defendant was arraigned on charges bordering on obtaining money under false pretence, fraud, and conspiracy, contrary to relevant provisions of Nigerian law. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

During the court session, the prosecution requested that the suspect be remanded pending further proceedings, while the defence counsel applied for bail. The presiding judge adjourned the case to a later date and ordered that the accused be remanded in custody pending the fulfilment of bail conditions.

Police authorities reiterated their commitment to tackling visa-related scams, urging members of the public to verify travel agents and visa consultants before making payments.

The case continues to highlight growing concerns over visa fraud in Lagos, as authorities intensify efforts to protect unsuspecting Nigerians from travel-related scams.
