FG Orders Immediate Night Repairs on Lagos–Ota–Abeokuta Road
The Federal Government has ordered the immediate commencement of night repair works on the Lagos–Ota–Abeokuta Road, following growing concerns over the deteriorating condition of the busy highway.
The directive was issued to reduce traffic congestion during daytime hours while ensuring urgent rehabilitation of critical sections of the road, which serves as a major link between Lagos and Ogun State.
According to officials, the night repairs will focus on damaged portions causing frequent gridlocks, accidents, and vehicle breakdowns. The move is expected to improve road safety and ease the daily commute for thousands of motorists and commercial drivers who rely on the route.
Residents and commuters have long complained about the poor state of the road, especially during peak hours, describing it as a major economic and transportation bottleneck. The federal government assured the public that contractors have been mobilised and work will proceed without delay.
Authorities also appealed to road users to exercise patience and comply with traffic diversions where necessary, while security agencies have been directed to provide protection for workers during the night operations.
The intervention forms part of the government’s broader efforts to rehabilitate key federal highways and improve transportation infrastructure across the country.
