Atiku Abubakar Wins ADC Presidential Primary Election in Yobe
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has emerged winner of the African Democratic Congress presidential primary election held in Yobe State.
According to reports, Atiku secured 44,841 votes during the exercise conducted in Damaturu, defeating other aspirants including former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
The returning officer for the exercise, Hajiya Ma’am Kyari, reportedly announced the results and declared Atiku winner after polling the highest number of valid votes cast in the state primary election.
Reports indicated that Mohammed Hayatu-Deen scored 365 votes, while Rotimi Amaechi polled 300 votes in the contest.
The exercise was described as peaceful and orderly, with party officials commending members and security agencies for ensuring smooth conduct throughout the voting process.
The development is expected to strengthen political conversations ahead of the 2027 general elections, as parties continue consultations and primary processes across different states.
Atiku Abubakar remains one of Nigeria’s most prominent political figures, having previously served as Vice President and contested multiple presidential elections.
