Senator Yayi Intervenes as Actor Ogogo Finally Receives Medical Care, Admitted to Operating Theatre
Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has reportedly received urgent medical attention after Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, intervened to connect him with cancer specialists.
The development was announced by actress and filmmaker Toyosi Adesanya, who said the senator personally reached out to specialists to help secure treatment for the veteran actor.
According to Adesanya’s update, Ogogo has now been admitted to an operating theatre for treatment, a development that has brought renewed hope to his family, colleagues and supporters.
She expressed gratitude to Senator Yayi for his intervention and prayed for a successful procedure, complete recovery and renewed strength for the veteran actor.
The update comes days after Ogogo’s daughters, Kira and Lima, raised concerns about their father’s health and appealed publicly for medical assistance.
Kira had said the family recently discovered that their father was battling stage-four cancer, adding that the condition had reportedly affected his abdomen. She appealed for information about specialists or medical centres that could attend to him.
Following the family’s appeal, Senator Yayi reportedly contacted leading cancer specialists to facilitate medical assistance for Ogogo.
The senator, who represents Ogun West, had also previously been acknowledged by Ogogo’s family for providing financial support toward the actor’s medical expenses. His latest intervention focused on connecting the veteran actor with specialist medical care.
The development has been welcomed by members of the Nigerian entertainment industry, many of whom have been calling for urgent attention to Ogogo’s condition.
Actors including Femi Adebayo, Muyiwa Ademola and Bimbo Oshin have also joined the calls for support for the veteran actor.
Ogogo’s daughters had stressed that their public appeal was primarily about finding qualified medical professionals who could help their father, rather than seeking financial donations.
Lima also reportedly said Ogogo was not medically fit to travel abroad for treatment, making access to appropriate specialist care in Nigeria particularly important.
