A Better Society Begins From The Home – Taiwo Olugbenga Peter (TOPCARES)
Gone are those days, when parents will not allow their children go near individuals whose source of income is unknown. Our society celebrates fraud and corrupt personalities. That is why crime is on the rise.
I remember when i was still a teenager at Ajegunle, on this faithful day, one of our neighbour saw me and my dad on the way to the bus stop and he volunteered to give us a lift., my dad gave him an excuse that we were just going down the street, when he drove far from us i asked my dad why he didn’t allow him lift us to the bus stop, he said he is not sure of where he got his money from, why? Because the guy was jobless.
This days, i have heard and read about parents encouraging their children to go into fraud, some go to the extent of taking them to those who will mentor them in becoming internet fraudsters.
Our society celebrates only the wealth without knowing the source of their wealth, have a little money to throw around and watch how people will praise and treat you.
The quest for fame and praises is the reason our youths are going into crimes since our society has lost moral decency.
As someone who deals with teenagers, i have heard from many of them say “SCHOOL NA SCAM”, i don’t really blame them because they see rotteness in the society and they feel going to school is a waste of time.
We have lost our values as a nation and as a society, every parents need to wake up to their responsibilities. Let us teach our children good morals and values that will make them a better adult. Teaching them that contentment is a great gain.
A better society begins from the home.
