A Manchester United midfielder is expected to join Everton permanently.
According to a recent rumor, Hayley Ladd, a midfielder for Manchester United, is expected to sign a long-term contract with Everton of the Women’s Super League (WSL).
Due to competition from players like Grace Clinton, Dominique Janssen, and Lisa Naalsund, Ladd has only played eight minutes in the league for United in the 2024–25 campaign. As a result, head coach Marc Skinner has chosen not to use the defensive midfielder, who was once a regular. This season, the 31-year-old has made three starts, all of them in the League Cup.
According to earlier rumors, Ladd was keen to leave Carrington during the transfer window in order to secure more playing time before the European Championships in Switzerland this summer. After narrowly defeating the Republic of Ireland in a thrilling second leg match at Dublin’s AVIVA Stadium in December, Wales qualified for Euro 2025.
According to a recent story from The Athletic, Ladd has already finished her physical at Everton and is thought to have agreed to an 18-month contract with an option for an additional year at an undisclosed cost.
With the addition of Kelly Gago and Martina Fernandez this transfer window, her arrival in Merseyside will undoubtedly strengthen Brian Sorensen’s Everton team. Contributing an abundance of experience to the group, Ladd’s adaptable capacity to play both defense and midfield will give Everton a lot more depth.
Emma Watson, Ladd’s teammate at United, has already finalized her loan transfer to the squad during the January transfer window, agreeing to a contract that will keep her there until the summer.
