The Abia State Action Alliance governorship candidate, Onyekwere Uche, has blamed the state’s economic woes on leadership ineptitude and corruption.
Uche disclosed this in Umuahia on Sunday, saying his ambition was to “change the narrative of our dear state from underdevelopment and retrogression to a progressive pace-setter state” and “rescue Abia from political servitude and economic emasculation”.
According to him, those who were privileged to superintend over the affairs of the state did not only abuse the opportunities given to them to positively affect lives but regrettably embarked on the insatiable chase for wealth.
“They criminally converted funds meant for the development of the state into their private possessions,” he said.
The state, he claimed, has “few individuals who are many times richer than the entire state, while the majority of Abians are wallowing in abject poverty”.
He, therefore, vowed to enthrone the government of the people that will change the faith of Abia people.
According to him, the problems of infrastructure, Abia State University accreditations, doctors’ plight, and “imposition and reward of failure, among others in the state, will be a thing of the past.
