Adeniyi Johnson Recounts Harrowing Escape from Robbery Attempt in Lagos
Nollywood actor Adeniyi Johnson recently shared a distressing account of narrowly escaping a robbery attempt in Lagos. The incident, which occurred on January 22, 2016, involved armed assailants storming a movie set in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where Johnson was filming. The robbers threatened the cast and crew, stealing valuables and causing widespread panic.
Johnson expressed gratitude for surviving the ordeal, stating, “I sincerely appreciate all the calls, DMs, and messages after the robbery attack some days back. God bless and keep us all. I’m back here now.”
This was not Johnson’s first encounter with danger on Nigerian roads. In September 2015, while traveling from Ibadan to Lagos, he was involved in a car accident while attempting to flee from armed robbers on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The actor lost control of his vehicle during the escape, leading to a crash. He later reflected on the incident, saying, “To GOD be the glory… into your hands Oh Lord I commit my life… inches away from death at gunpoint… I choose to be quiet and thankful.”
In March 2016, Johnson faced another perilous situation when his car was attacked by a group of men around the Ogere axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The assailants placed large wooden obstacles on the road and pelted vehicles with stones and cans. Johnson managed to drive to safety, although his car’s windshield was shattered. He recounted the experience on social media, warning others to be cautious and urging the police to restore order on the highway.
These incidents highlight the growing concerns about security on Nigerian roads, particularly for individuals in the public eye. Johnson’s experiences underscore the need for increased vigilance and improved safety measures to protect citizens from such threats.
The actor’s resilience in the face of danger serves as a reminder of the challenges many Nigerians face daily. His calls for enhanced security and public awareness aim to prevent similar occurrences and ensure safer travel for all.
