Alexis Sanchez Will Thrive If Arsenal Fans Turn On Him – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Manchester United interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez will make an appearance against his former club Arsenal in Friday night’s FA Cup fourth round clash at Emirates Stadium, and suggested the striker will relish any abuse coming his way from Gunners fans.
Alexis Sanchez left Arsenal for United last January on bitter terms and is now set to return from his latest injury lay-off, with Solskjaer convinced United’s highest earning player will be motivated by any criticism coming his way from Arsenal supporters.
“He’ll be involved,” confirmed Solskjaer of Sanchez. “I think he’ll love it if the crowd turn against him. As a player, pride kicks in and you think ‘I’ll show all of you’. He’s been fantastic in training, his attitude has been spot on so hopefully he’ll enjoy the game.”
Meanwhile, Solskjaer believes United are “making progress” over new long-term deals for goalkeeper David De Gea and forward Anthony Martial.
De Gea and Martial are out of contract at the end of next season and are in talks over new deals.
Martial has moved closer to signing a new five-year contract while De Gea is waiting for United to match his demands.
“I think the club is making progress but I leave that to the right people to do that I don’t know really how far we are away from it,” he confirmed. “Hopefully we’re going to have some good news in the coming weeks.”
