APC E-Registration Hits 7 Million as Party Extends Nationwide Drive

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a major milestone in its ongoing electronic membership registration drive, with over 7 million Nigerians registering since the exercise began nationwide, according to party officials.

The milestone was highlighted by Dr. Dayo Isreal, the APC’s National Youth Leader, who said the figure reflects strong participation across the country as the ruling party seeks to broaden its base ahead of the 2027 general elections. He made the comments while monitoring and mobilising support for the e-registration exercise in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The digital membership drive, which was initially scheduled to end on January 31, 2026, has been extended to February 8 to accommodate the high demand and enthusiastic response from potential and existing members. APC officials explained that the extension aims to allow more Nigerians to participate and to help achieve an even higher membership target before the deadline.

Party leaders describe the e-registration as part of efforts to modernise internal processes, ensure accurate membership data, and expand the party’s reach at the grassroots level. They argue that digital registration will help strengthen internal democracy and improve engagement with citizens ahead of upcoming elections.

However, the exercise has not been without controversy. Opposition parties such as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have claimed that civil servants in some states are being coerced into participating in APC’s e-registration. The APC has denied these allegations, describing them as baseless and politically motivated, insisting that millions have registered voluntarily and enthusiastically.

Supporters of the party have welcomed the progress, saying the surge in membership strengthens the APC’s political position and contributes to broader civic participation. As the registration drive continues, the party aims to sustain this momentum and mobilise even more Nigerians to join its ranks in the run-up to the 2027 elections.
