April Chidinma Tackles Female Circumcision in Powerful New Film ‘PREYE’

Nigerian filmmaker and actress April Chidinma is using her creative voice to spotlight a critical issue in her latest project, ‘PREYE’, a compelling new film that boldly addresses the harsh realities of female circumcision.

Known for her fearless storytelling, April Chidinma dives deep into the cultural, emotional, and psychological impact of female genital mutilation (FGM) through the eyes of the film’s protagonist, Preye  a young girl whose life is forever changed by a tradition rooted in silence and pain.

Set against a gripping backdrop of rural Nigeria, ‘PREYE’ explores the complex layers of generational beliefs, societal pressure, and the silent struggles of many young girls. Chidinma uses raw emotion, powerful performances, and an evocative script to shed light on an issue still prevalent in parts of Africa and beyond.
