At the Grand National Tour stop at SoFi Stadium, Justin Bieber joins SZA for an unexpected performance.
Previously, the two musicians worked together on the song “Snooze” from SZA’s Grammy-nominated album.
On Friday night, May 23, SZA surprised her fans at SoFi Stadium by bringing in special guest Justin Bieber. At Kendrick Lamar’s Grand National Tour’s second stop in Los Angeles, Bieber went onstage with the five-time Grammy Award nominee to perform their cover of “Snooze.” The tens of thousands in attendance were taken aback by his arrival, and the throng was visibly energized by his presence.
Bieber wore a Balenciaga jacket and an all-black ensemble when he took the stage. He and SZA danced through the remainder of the song together after taking turns singing the chorus and kissing each other on the hand a few times, perhaps too many times.
Following Bieber’s appearance in the 2023 music video with Young Mazino, Woody McClain, and Benny Blanco, the two famously worked together on an acoustic version of the song.
The last time Bieber played in front of a stadium-sized crowd was at Coachella 2024, when he unexpectedly showed up to perform the “Essence” remix during Tems and Wizkid’s set.
Since calling off his Justice global tour a year before it was supposed to conclude, Bieber has been causing public anxiety on his mental health. According to a recent THR article, the pop star is reportedly struggling financially as a result of a lull in his solo creative output.
SZA introduced Lizzo as the evening’s special guest at the Grand National Tour’s opening performance in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The “Special” remix was done by the two.
On April 19, the Grand National Tour got underway in Minneapolis. On Saturday night, Kendrick and SZA will play their last show in Los Angeles at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, before traveling to Glendale, Arizona, on May 27.
