Atiku to Tinubu: Focus on Fixing the Economy, Not Attacking the Opposition
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to channel his energy into addressing Nigeria’s worsening economic crisis instead of targeting members of the opposition. The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections made this known in a recent statement that has sparked reactions across political circles.
Atiku noted that the country is battling record inflation, high cost of living, soaring unemployment, and a depreciating naira, yet the current administration appears more interested in political witch-hunts and propaganda. He emphasized that the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government must redirect its focus to meaningful reforms that will stabilize the economy and ease the suffering of Nigerians.
According to him, “Nigerians are not interested in blame games or political distractions. What they want is leadership that delivers results. The hardship in the country is real, and it is worsening by the day. President Tinubu was elected to provide solutions, not excuses.”
The former VP’s remarks come amid growing discontent from citizens over fuel price hikes, food scarcity, and declining purchasing power. Economists and analysts have also echoed similar concerns, urging the federal government to adopt a more strategic and transparent approach to governance.
Atiku’s comments have once again positioned him as a vocal critic of the current administration’s policies, especially on economic matters. He reaffirmed his commitment to defending democracy and ensuring that leaders are held accountable for their actions.
