Blackface rebrands as Plantashun Boiz, releases album featuring Faze
In an interview with Television Continental (TVC), the dancehall singer disclosed that he has put his stage name Blackface Naija on hold “for a long time” in order to concentrate on releasing music exclusively under the Plantashun Boiz name. Blackface has released a solo album under the name of Plantashun Boiz, a defunct music group he was a part of. The group, which included 2Baba and Faze, was formed in 2000 and was known for its distinctive blend of hip-hop and R&B. The group disbanded in 2004 after releasing two albums, but briefly reunited for an album in 2007.
“I want to continue releasing music under the name Plantashun Boys. It will be a while before you see Blackface Naija on the market with a new tune. “It will be the Plantashun Boys,” he declared.
According to the artist, he has already started the process with his most recent album, “The Return.” He claims that the project consists of roughly 18 to 19 tracks, one of which is “Emotions,” a song featuring Faze.
Despite earlier arrangements to record together, Blackface claimed that 2Baba is not on the album because he decided not to take part in the production.
“The Return,” my album, which features roughly 18 to 19 tracks, is currently available under Plantashun Boiz’s name as well. Faze is featured on the album; the song is called “Emotions,” but 2Face isn’t on it,” he stated.
He does not want to be a part of the album, which is why he is not on it. He doesn’t want to go to the studio, even though we already have the time.
If an individual indicates that they are no longer prepared, will you continue to wait or proceed? I thus took action.
Blackface has been berating 2Baba for singing the 2004 hit song “African Queen,” which he claimed he composed, since 2015.
He claimed in 2017 that 2Baba “sabotaged” his music industry career.
However, Blackface attempted to patch things up in October 2023 by pleading with the “African Queen” hitmaker to pardon him for his “wrongdoings, knowingly or unknowingly.”
