BREAKING!! MAURIZIO SARRI QUITS CHELSEA… BECOMES JUVENTUS COACH
Chelsea have announced the departure of head coach Maurizio Sarri, who has agreed to become the manager of Juventus.
The Italian, who joined the Blues last summer, has agreed to terminate his contract two years early.
Chelsea revealed this in a statement on the club’s official website:
“Maurizio leaves Chelsea with thanks from us all for the work he and his assistants did during the season he spent as our head coach, and for winning the Europa League, guiding us to another cup final and a third-place finish in the Premier League,”
“We would also like to congratulate him on securing the role as big as any in Serie A and to wish him the best of luck for the future.”
Sarri moved to Chelsea last summer and started his Premier League campaign with a record unbeaten run of 12 matches.
Despite a mid-season dip in form, the Italian guided the Blues to a third-place finish and a return to the UEFA Champions League.
Sarri also claimed his first silverware as a manager as Chelsea beat Arsenal to win the UEFA Europa League final.
The Blues’ first match of the 2019/20 Premier League is a trip to Manchester United on Sunday 11 August.
