Brymo Apologizes For Tweets Demeaning Igbo Presidency (Video)
Nigerian recording artiste, Brymo has issued an apology following his deriding comments about a prospective Igbo presidency.
Brymo whose real name is Ọlawale Ọlọfọrọ had stated that Nigeria is not prepared for a person from the Eastern part of the country to emerge as the next president of the country. Also, he used unprintable words to describe the Igbos.
The singer has not apologized for his unruly behaviour in recent weeks towards Igbo presidency.
On Friday night, he went live on his Instagram account to address the issue and clarify what led to his tweets.
Brymo said that issue started after he shared his opinion about author Chimamanda Adichie refusing national honors but accepting a chieftaincy title in her hometown, Abba, Anambra State.
He said,
“It is very important you understand that this entire fracas began with me seeing in the media that Chimamanda Adichie refused some national honors and had picked up some traditional titles in the East at home.
The singer-songwriter continued,
“And I suggested that for me, it says a lot about the Igbo presidency because that actual seat is what the region should be eyeing right now. I have clamoured for Igbo presidency in the last few years, you wouldn’t believe it.
“It will pop into your mind when you hear that Igbos do not want the presidency.
“I did not insult the tribe, I am sorry to anyone whom it sounded as such too. I was trying to weigh into a very important matter.”
