BUSTED! UTME Candidate Arrested For Forging His Score To Study Medicine
A 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidate incurred the wrath of the management of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for editing his result in the examination, and will now be handed over to the police.
Kingsley Unekwe reportedly increased his score from 201 to 269 after contacting some fraudsters, in a bid to deceive his parents who wanted him to study Medicine. He was however apprehended.
JAMB Registrar, Prof Is-haq Oloyede revealed that the boy confessed to tampering with the original UTME result in the presence of his mother and other officials on Friday August 16, while pleading for mercy amid claim of not knowing it came off a fraudulent act.
The registrar said, “Anybody who does post-result infraction will have their results withdrawn by the board. You (Unekwe) are the fifth person. Two of the other candidates are already being prosecuted because we showed them clearly that they forged their results to deceive their parents who are desperate, like your parents are, to study medicine.
We will prosecute you for attempting to tarnish the image of the board. We told your father that we have all the facts; since we now see that your claims are not correct, you will be prosecuted.”
