Manchester United striker, Romelu Lukaku described himself as Jose Mourinho’s ‘sergeant’ yesterday but few players enjoy such a close relationship with the ‘Special One’ as Nemanja Matic.
According to Metro UK, the Serbian left Benfica to link up with Mourinho for the first time at Chelsea in 2014 and he followed the Portuguese boss to Old Trafford last summer when Chelsea accepted a £35million bid.
Matic bagged his first goal for the club with a dramatic stoppage time winner against Crystal Palace on Monday night and he’s been prolific on social media this week with the Serbain clearly in a chipper mood.
The midfielder uploaded a photo onto Instagram on Thursday that showed him enjoying a cup of coffee with Mourinho in the ‘Matic lounge’ and another of Mourinho’s former ‘sergeants’ couldn’t help but comment.
Costa simply replied to the photo with: ‘Father and son’ from his official account.
The Brazilian enjoyed a love-hate relationship with Mourinho during his time at Stamford Bridge but he won a Premier League title with the Blues during his first season in west London.
Costa’s form dipped dramatically the following season when Mourinho was sacked but he regained his form in 2016/17 when Antonio Conte won the title in his first campaign at the club.
The 29-year-old threatened to leave Chelsea midway through that campaign but held on to the end of the season, when he joined Atletico Madrid.
