DJ Switch Criticizes Pastor Adeboye for Supporting Tinubu

DJ Switch, a popular Nigerian disc jockey and activist, publicly criticized Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), for his endorsement of Bola Tinubu, a politician who was running for president in the Nigerian general elections.

DJ Switch, whose real name is Obianuju Catherine Udeh, had gained international attention in October 2020 for her role in broadcasting the shooting of #EndSARS protesters by Nigerian security forces at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos.

In a tweet on her official Twitter handle, DJ Switch expressed disappointment at Pastor Adeboye’s endorsement of Tinubu, whom she accused of being part of Nigeria’s corrupt political system. She argued that the religious leader should not be promoting politicians who are part of the problem.

“Dear Pastor Adeboye, I heard you endorsed Bola Tinubu for president. Sir, you have been a respected voice in Nigeria for decades, but I am disappointed that you would endorse someone who is part of the corrupt political system that we are fighting against. We need leaders who will be accountable to the people, not just to their political godfathers,” she wrote.

DJ Switch’s criticism of Pastor Adeboye sparked a heated debate on social media, with some supporting her view while others accused her of being disrespectful to the religious leader. However, DJ Switch remained resolute in her stance, stating that she was speaking out for the voiceless and marginalized in Nigeria.

As a prominent figure in the #EndSARS movement, DJ Switch has been vocal about her criticisms of Nigeria’s political class and has used her platform to demand accountability and transparency in governance. Her criticism of Pastor Adeboye’s endorsement of Tinubu is just one example of her commitment to the cause of social justice and reform in Nigeria.
