Ebenezer Obey will commemorate his 68th year in music and his 83rd birthday.
On April 3, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, a well-known music icon, will celebrate his 83rd birthday with a Thanksgiving ceremony.
“Celebrating God’s faithfulness: Ebenezer Obey at 83 and Celebrating 68 years as a prosperous, world-renowned
celebrated musician,” will honor Obey’s 68-year musical career and his steadfast adherence to his religious beliefs.
The event will take place at Decross Gospel Mission in Iyana Ipaja, Lagos, and will include prayers for blessings and national peace, according to a statement made by Mr. Tunji Odunmbaku, General Manager of Obey Music Group.
Despite a number of health issues, Obey thanked God for his prosperous music career and excellent health.
Obey chose to have a Thanksgiving ceremony instead of a lavish birthday celebration, highlighting his wish to be near to God and expressing gratitude for the unique grace in his life and work.
“Give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good: for His mercy endureth forever,” he remarked, quoting Psalm 136:1. For the past 68 years, I have been a well-known and prosperous musician who has performed all over the world. Even though I’ve had multiple surgeries and encountered certain health issues, God has given me the ability to overcome them all.
“I give thanks to God that my music career is still relevant and that I may perform alongside my commitment to God’s mission. Sincerely, I’ve been through it all, and I’m incredibly grateful to God for the exceptional and singular grace that has shaped my life and work.
“At this point, my only goal is to thank God and remain near Him till the end. I feel very happy. As I celebrate 68 years as a successful, internationally recognized musician and turn 83, I want everyone of my friends, admirers, and well-wishers to join me in giving thanks to God.
