EFCC – Hushpuppi Is Nigeria’s Most-Wanted Hacker

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission () has said socialite, Ramoni Igbalode better known as who was recently arrested in Dubai is ‘Nigeria’s most-wanted hacker.’

Spokesman of EFCC, Dele Oyewale stated this in a statement on Thursday, June 18.

The suspected fraudster was arrested on June 10 in United Arab Emirates (UAE) in connection with $35m ventilator scam.

EFCC revealed that it is working closely with US’ Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to trace Hushpuppi’s alleged fraud victims, fraudulent transactions and other alleged conspirators who might have direct involvement with him.

The commission further stated that many Internet frauds in the country have been traced to the flamboyant Instagram celebrity.

The statement by Dele Oyewale reads in part;

Nigerian most-wanted hacker, Ramoni Igbalode, alias Ray hushpuppi, recently arrested by the International Police( Interpol) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation( FBI), has considerable cases of cyber crimes being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission( EFCC).

We are familiar with grisly details of his money laundering transactions, involving many high-profile cyber criminals facing trial in Nigeria.

The Commission is engaging with the FBI in tracing victims of his fraudulent transactions and other fraudsters having direct involvement with him. Local cyber criminals with money laundering networks with him, are also being investigated.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit in Lagos State has released Executive Director of Cubana Group, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest.

Okechukwu, known for his lavish lifestyle on and off social media, was arrested on Thursday for alleged misuse of police escorts and weapons as well as unexplained wealth.

He arrived at the Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos around 10am and was detained for hours.

Okechukwu was later released Okechukwu and was at his Banana Island house as at 10pm on Thursday night.
