Exclusive: Chelsea Delegation Working on Deal for £57m Star
Before the 11 PM deadline, Chelsea is still in the running to sign Victor Osimhen of Napoli, with a club delegation in Naples attempting to convince the player, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.
The Nigerian international has been linked to the Blues throughout the summer, but a trade hasn’t materialized because of his expensive release clause. But the club executives are working hard to get him in now that the deadline is drawing near.
Win Victor Osimhen for Chelsea
fierce rivalry with Al-Ahli, however
Chelsea isn’t the only team interested in Osimhen, though; the Saudi powerhouse Al-Ahli and Napoli have worked out a €68 million agreement, but they still need to persuade the player.
According to GMS sources, an agreement worth a whooping €160 million, which includes bonuses of €40 million and €30 million per season, is in place. Al-Ahli wants the deal’s release clause to take effect in the summer of 2026, whilst Osimhen wants it to start in the summer of 2025. Chelsea has the opportunity to make a move now that the clause has been delayed. The clause would be worth approximately €65 million instead of the €120 million that he now has at Napoli.
The Blues are willing to give a loan with the condition that they must acquire him the following summer since they believe he would want to remain in Europe rather than relocate to the Middle East.
Future of Ivan Toney Connected to Osimhen
The Brentford forward is also of interest to both teams.
Ivan Toney, an England striker for Brentford, may also have his future resolved on Friday, as Osimhen’s situation is anticipated to be resolved in one way or another.
Since he is in the last year of his contract, the 29-year-old has been expected to depart the Bees all summer, but most potential suitors have found their asking price to be too high thus far. Both teams, though, are still interested in a deal, so the team that loses out on Osimhen might focus on securing a deal for Toney in the interim.
Toney has agreed to terms for a move to Saudi Arabia, but would want to remain in the Premier League, according to GIVEMESPORT sources. It is known what Brentford is asking for, therefore a deal might be struck toward the end of the window.
