Gov Sanwo-Olu Applauds Peaceful Conduct of Lagos LG Polls
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the recently concluded Local Government elections across the state, describing the process as a reflection of growing democratic maturity among residents and political stakeholders.
Speaking shortly after casting his vote in Ikoyi, the governor expressed satisfaction with the overall coordination and security of the electoral exercise, noting that reports from various parts of the state indicated that the polls were conducted without major incidents or violence.
“I want to commend the people of Lagos for coming out to exercise their civic responsibility in a peaceful manner,” Sanwo-Olu said. “This election reflects our collective commitment to grassroots democracy and good governance.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu also praised the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for what he described as improved logistics and timely distribution of materials, adding that the election serves as a crucial step in consolidating democratic governance at the local level.
The governor emphasized the importance of Local Government Councils in delivering key services and driving development, urging those elected to remain accountable and focused on the needs of the people.
“Local governments are the closest to the people. I expect all elected officials to serve with integrity, transparency, and dedication,” he stated.
