Cannabis, commonly referred to as “weed,” is not a hard drug, according to Nigerian afrobeat musician David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido.
The musician said this on the “The Morning Hustle” podcast while talking about his foundation’s intention to combat drug usage and donate to orphanages.
According to Davido, drug misuse is on the rise, and helping addicts stop using drugs is crucial.
The musician claims that several people thought he was hypocritical for consuming marijuana and making donations to combat drug misuse.
According to Davido, he does not consider marijuana to be a hard substance.
“I’m making a donation this year to help combat youth drug abuse,” he stated. I do not consider marijuana to be a hard drug. Although I don’t consider marijuana to be a drug, some people claim that I smoke it.
“Recently, many people have been suffering through a lot. Addiction to drugs is on the rise. In order to assist them in quitting, I would like to donate to that cause.
Because of my father, I was able to overcome many obstacles.
Davido, meantime, has talked about how his father, Adedeji Adeleke, encouraged him to believe in God.
The musician clarified that he remains inspired in the face of difficulties because of his father’s teachings on having confidence in God.
In a recent Rollingout podcast interview, he revealed this.
Davido talked about how his father’s religious teachings influenced his life and how he was raised in a Christian household.
He claims that his father taught him to never doubt God, which has helped him get through challenging times.
