Igbokwe Slams Sowore Over Tinubu ‘Criminal’ Remark, Demands Apology
Outspoken APC chieftain, Joe Igbokwe, has come hard on activist and politician Omoyele Sowore following his recent remarks describing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a “criminal.”
Igbokwe, in a fiery statement, condemned Sowore’s choice of words, stressing that such attacks on the President were reckless, disrespectful, and unbecoming of a public figure. He argued that Tinubu has made immense sacrifices for Nigeria’s democracy and deserves respect, not constant ridicule.
According to Igbokwe, Sowore’s statement was not only damaging but also an insult to the office of the President. He called on Sowore to tender a public apology, urging him to focus on constructive criticism rather than personal attacks.
This latest exchange adds another layer to the ongoing war of words between the ruling party and opposition figures. While some Nigerians on social media supported Sowore’s hard-hitting remarks, others echoed Igbokwe’s demand, saying criticism should not cross into insults.
With the political atmosphere already tense, this clash between Sowore and Igbokwe is bound to spark more debates about freedom of expression, respect for leadership, and the boundaries of political criticism in Nigeria.
