Iheanacho Warns Liverpool Ahead Carabao Cup Clash – ‘We’re Going There To Compete’
Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has fired warning to Liverpool ahead of their Carabao Cup clash.
The Foxes will take on Liverpool in a third round fixture at the Anfield on Wednesday night.
Liverpool will be the favourites heading into the contest, but Iheanacho has warned the Reds they will fight hard to win the contest.
“We’re excited,” the Nigeria international told the club’s official website.
“We know what Anfield is like. It’s a great atmosphere there. We’re not going there for the atmosphere, we’re going there to compete.
“We played them in pre-season and we’re in a good place now. We’re winning games. It’s a cup game, but we know what they’re like. They’re a strong side, they’ve been doing well this season in the Premier League.
“They’re going to be strong for us, but we need to really work hard to get the win. Hopefully we’ll do that so let’s see what comes out of that. They press really well. We have to be careful of that as well.
“We’ll try to give them a game, but we know they’re a strong side.”
Iheanacho and his international teammate, Wilfred Ndidi scored in Leicester City’s 2-0 win against Burton Albion in the previous round.
Leicester City top the Sky Bet Championship table having started the new season in fine form, winning seven of eight league fixtures and safely emerging past Burton Albion and Tranmere Rovers in the Carabao Cup.
Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool, on the other hand, have tasted victories in their last six outings in all competitions.
They’re second in the Premier League, only two points adrift of champions Manchester City, after an impressive start of their own to 2023/24.
