The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (jamb) has suspended the compulsory use of the National Identification Number (NIN) for the registration of applicants for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry till 2021.
The JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed this throughout a briefing at the headquaters of the board in Bwari, Abuja. According to him, the move changed into to provide extra time for applicants to get their national identity numbers.
It became gathered that the decision to suspend using NIN for 2020 UTME registration followed criticisms from the public over the negative timing coverage and the issue in obtaining the NIN with the aid of potential applicants.
With this development, candidates can now follow for the 2020 UTME/DE which is ready to commence January 13, 2020 with out NIN.
The date for the commencement of the JAMB exam remains March 14th, 2020.
