Kill the Terrorists or Resign — SDP Presidential Candidate Adebayo Tells Tinubu
Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has issued a strong message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to either take decisive action against terrorists or resign from office. Adebayo expressed disappointment over the continuous loss of lives and property across Nigeria due to terrorist attacks, kidnappings, and banditry, accusing the government of failing to secure its citizens.
Speaking during an interview, Adebayo condemned what he described as the federal government’s “weak response” to insecurity, stressing that Nigerians deserve a leader who prioritizes the protection of lives over political interests. He argued that the Tinubu administration has the resources, intelligence, and power to end terrorism if the political will exists. “The president swore an oath to protect Nigerians. If he cannot kill the terrorists, then he should have the courage to resign,” Adebayo declared.
The SDP chieftain further urged the military and security agencies to intensify their counterterrorism efforts, while also calling for improved welfare and logistics for security personnel on the frontline. He lamented that many rural communities in northern and central Nigeria remain under siege, with farmers unable to access their lands, worsening the food insecurity crisis.
Adebayo’s comments have sparked nationwide reactions, with some Nigerians backing his stance, while others urged for patience as Tinubu’s administration continues implementing its national security reforms. Nonetheless, the SDP candidate’s remarks have reignited debate over government accountability, leadership responsibility, and the urgency to eradicate terrorism from Nigeria once and for all.
