Ladoja Emerges as 44th Olubadan-Designate of Ibadanland
Former Oyo State Governor, Rashidi Ladoja, has been named the 44th Olubadan-designate of Ibadanland, following the passing of Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, the 43rd Olubadan. This historic development marks a significant milestone in the traditional leadership of the ancient city, as Ladoja now stands in line to ascend one of Nigeria’s most respected thrones.
The announcement, made by the Olubadan-in-Council, follows the respected rotational system embedded in the Ibadan traditional chieftaincy structure, which ensures an orderly and peaceful succession process. Ladoja, a high-ranking chief and Otun Olubadan before his designation, has been a notable figure both in politics and traditional leadership.
Known for his tenure as governor between 2003 and 2007, Ladoja’s transition from politics to royalty has been closely followed by many across the country.
