“Loss of Moral Music Fuels Societal Decadence” — Spyro Sounds Alarm on Culture Crisis
Nigerian singer Oludipe David, popularly known as Spyro, has raised an urgent alarm about the moral direction of the country, arguing that the decline of meaningful music is largely responsible for growing societal decay. The “Who Is Your Guy?” star said that music used to carry substance, message, and values — but today, much of it is about “just vibes.”
Speaking on a recent show, Spyro explained that in past decades, artists across genres conveyed powerful messages that shaped minds and inspired change. Now, he believes, many songs are created purely for profit, lacking intrinsic value. “A lot of the decadence that we have in society today can be traced to the fact that music has lost its value,” Spyro said.
His concern is rooted in his personal commitment to “clean music.” As he has publicly stated, he refuses to compromise his moral standards for chart success. “I don’t do rough music. I do clean music, clean visuals, clean everything,” Spyro declared in an interview.
