May D claims that he was once larger than Davido and Wizkid

According to Nigerian musician May D, in his early career, he was on par with, if not better than, music heavyweights Davido and Wizkid.

In a recent interview with The Honest Bunch podcast, May D stated that he was once more well-known than Davido and Wizkid and referred to himself as one of the top three Nigerian musicians of his day.

After that, it was David, Wizkid, and me. I was even larger. “What’s the difference between ‘Holla at Your Boy’ and ‘Soundtrack?'” he asked, alluding to his popular song.

The musician also upheld his earlier assertions that Wizkid, a Grammy-winning global sensation, would not have become as well-known as he is now had he not severed ties with Square Records.

In 2011, May D became well-known after signing with Square Records, which is owned by P-Square.
But when the label announced his departure in August 2012, his career trajectory took a different turn.

The musician claims that his conflict with P-Square hindered his capacity to stay at the top of the music industry and has linked it to a decline in his career.
