On June 13, 2025, Iyanu, the adaptation of Roye Okupe’s graphic novel series “Iyanu: Child of Wonder,” will make its exclusive debut in Africa.

Showmax and Lion Forge Entertainment collaborated on the premiere.

The African streamer also published the official teaser, providing spectators a glance into the enthralling drama based on Nigerian culture and folklore.

In 44 African countries, the first season will be available for binge-watching.Showmax will stream the series, which is produced by Lion Forge Entertainment and features Okupe as creator, executive producer, and showrunner.

Iyanu, a courageous young orphan living in the magical kingdom of Yorubaland, is the focus of the animated series, which draws inspiration from Nigerian culture, music, and mythology. She studies history and ancient arts and longs for a normal life until a threat awakens divine powers not seen since the fabled Age of Wonders. Accompanied by her newfound friends Biyi, Toye, and a magical leopard named Ekun, Iyanu sets out to discover the source of this evil, discovering her destiny in the process.
