Nkechi Nweje, a veteran Nollywood actress, passes away at age 60.
Following the passing of well-known actress Nkechi Nweje, the Nollywood industry is once again in mourning.
Nweje passed away on Friday at the age of 60 after a brief illness.
Movie producer Stanley Ajemba, popularly known as Stanley Ontop, confirmed the news on Saturday. Sharing his grief on Instagram alongside her picture.
He wrote, “Nollywood in tears as we lost one of our vibrant Nollywood actresses, @nkechi.nweje, after a brief illness.
“Couldn’t post since morning because it was like a dream to me. Ezigbo Nwanyi Onitsha. Rest in peace, ma’am.
“My best friend, she always called me on the phone, advising me. The last time we communicated was during the Queenth saga. “On top, stop,” she said. I’m still unable to speak.
Nweje, renowned for her compelling portrayals in motherly roles, built a remarkable legacy in the industry through her outstanding performances.
Her passing has left a void in the hearts of fans and colleagues alike.
Fellow actress, Rita Edochie, also mourned Nweje’s passing, posting a candlelight image on Instagram with a dark background.
“This world is really not our home,” she wrote.
Anita Joseph and Destiny Etiko were among the other Nollywood celebrities who joined in honoring the late actress.
Her spouse and six children survive Nweje. I hope her soul finds peace.
