During the 2022 summer transfer window, Nottingham Forest acquired a diverse group of football players, some of whom were more successful than others.

From a Forest standpoint, it turned out to be a chaotic summer. Five loan players went back to their parent clubs after earning promotion, while Brice Samba and Lewis Grabban both made the decision to leave the City Ground.
Steve Cooper was left with a shabby bunch of players as a result. Forest had to get active as a result, and by the time the transfer window closed at the end of August, the Reds had brought on an incredible 23 new players.

Cooper’s ability to juggle so many players in such a short period of time allowed Forest to stay in the Premier League, and seven more would join in the January window of that season.

That summer, Morgan Gibbs-White turned out to be the most successful acquisition. At the time, he was the club’s biggest acquisition, and he still plays a significant role now, leading the squad when Ryan Yates isn’t needed.
According to Italian media, Nottingham Forest lost out on Remo Freuler.

Freuler cost £8 million to sign from Atalanta. He gained a great deal of experience with the Serie A team, and in the 2021–2022 season, he captained the squad in a Champions League match against Manchester United.

At Forest, the seasoned midfielder was frequently used in a system that wasn’t ideal for him. Cooper tried to combine a number of guys, but in the end, Freuler was assigned a lot of running, which isn’t his forte.

Tuttomercatoweb examined the player yesterday. They contend that Forest “failed to exploit” the crucial qualities that the Swiss talent offers to Bologna and feel that Freuler has given the team a winning mindset.
Freuler didn’t score or provide an assist in his 33 Forest outings. However, he did score a well-taken penalty as the Reds defeated Wolves in a shootout to go to the Carabao Cup quarterfinals.
According to the report, Giovanni Sartari, the sporting director of Bologna, was the mastermind behind the agreement, choosing to bring him to the team in the summer of 2023.

With the Reds acquiring Nicolas Dominguez from the Serie A team for £8 million, Forest allowed Freuler to leave on loan at first. It’s safe to say that the Argentine player does appear to be a better fit in the Premier League.

Freuler, who frequently plays for Bologna, has been asked to lead the squad this year. Since joining the team, he has made 67 appearances for the Italian team, recording three assists and one goal.

Cooper could have been able to assist in ensuring that Forest never saw Freuler at his finest. A player with 11 goals for Switzerland should be able to play in his best position, but he was never given the opportunity.
