Retired Super Eagles midfielder, Austin Okocha, has backed Spartak Moscow forward Victor Moses to return stronger from his lengthy spell on the sidelines and guide the Russian giants to the league title.
Moses was in fine form for Spartak at the beginning of the 2022/23 season, having bagged two goals in four matches, while enjoying his new role with the Russian club under new manager Guille Abascal.
The 32-year-old suffered a serious injury during the first half of Spartak Moscow’s 2-0 win against Ural on match-day four of the Russian Premier League in August 2022.
The former Chelsea man went down with no contact with the opposition, before being stretchered off the pitch.
However, the former Chelsea man has returned to training and coincidentally could face the same side he suffered the injury against when Spartak face Ural on March 4.
Spartak, who were top of the league before the injury to the Nigerian, currently sit second, six points behind leaders Zenit St Petersburg, but Okocha is confident that compatriot could be the game changer for the Gladiators.
“Victor (Moses) is a great football player who played at a high level at Chelsea and is now showing his worth at Spartak,” Okocha said in an interview with Sport24.
“It is a pity that he has an injury, but I want to wish him only the very best.
“I am sure that when he recovers from the injury and returns to the squad, he will help Spartak become the champions.”
