Oluremi Tinubu Calls on Nigerians to Embrace Peaceful Coexistence for National Growth
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged citizens across the country to embrace peaceful coexistence, unity, and mutual respect as vital ingredients for building a more prosperous and stable nation.
Speaking while addressing Nigerians on the importance of national harmony, Mrs Tinubu emphasized that sustainable development cannot thrive in an environment plagued by division, intolerance, or hostility. According to her, Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity, and citizens must learn to live together despite ethnic, religious, and political differences.
The First Lady stressed that peace at the community level remains the foundation for economic growth, social progress, and national security. She noted that when citizens coexist peacefully, it becomes easier for governments to implement policies that improve education, healthcare, infrastructure, and job creation.
Mrs Tinubu also called on parents, religious leaders, traditional rulers, and community influencers to promote values of tolerance, dialogue, and empathy, especially among young people. She warned that hate speech and divisive narratives only weaken the nation and stall collective progress.
Reaffirming her commitment to social development initiatives, the First Lady encouraged Nigerians to see one another as partners in nation-building rather than rivals. She added that peaceful coexistence remains a shared responsibility, not solely the duty of government.
Her message comes at a time when Nigeria continues to grapple with social tensions and security challenges, making her call for unity and understanding particularly significant.
