R Kelly Reportedly Banned From Visiting His “Studio Freely”
A new report has emerged that R Kelly’s “recording studio” is no longer his go-to spot after the scrutiny it received in the Surviving R. Kelly documentary.
The disgraced singer was reportedly banned from using his studio freely after it emerged that the warehouse location was allegedly not just a studio but rather a place where he would take young women.
The Chicago Sun-Times quoted a Cook County judge as ordering on Tuesday that the Chicago warehouse rented by R. Kelly can be used only between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and only for recording studio purposes.
The ruling comes a week after Chicago building inspectors found code violations at the R&B star’s recording studio on the city’s near West Side during a court-ordered inspection.
Those violations included evidence the industrial space was used as a residence.
According to the publication, the judge Patrice Ball-Reed reviewed photos of the warehouse that showed faulty stairs, crumbling walls and fire hazards, before he wielded the big stick.
“It looks like people are living there, and that’s not good,” Ball-Reed said. “Someone is living there.”
Meanwhile, residents who live and work nearby told WGN-TV last week that the singer would often bring young girls over.
[I’ve] seen younger girls in front of the building, back of the building,” said Jim Lewis, who works nearby. “After his last incident about a year ago he did a little spring cleaning; there were mattresses in the alley, boxes of women’s shoes.”
