Shan George, a seasoned singer, actor, and film producer, has cautioned both men and women to thoroughly research their partners’ families before getting married.

“I think people should feel free to speak out, as long as it’s true, and not some gimmick for attention or just to smear someone else’s reputation,” George stated in an interview with Saturday Beats.

Many offenders of domestic violence and marital abuse get away with it because of our culture, which typically grants men more authority at home. Additionally, their spouse might change their mind. Remember that love is at play here, and children must typically be taken into account before any action is taken.

“I will suggest that, as was done in the past, before getting married, you look into a person’s genotype, family history, and other significant matters. The majority of the time, some of the factors that lead to pressure that intensifies abuse are inherited.

She also commended the outrage of people and appropriate authorities following the murder and abuse cases in Nigeria.

“There’s a good outrage about such a situation already, knowing that it is traumatic for both parents, the one who lost a child and the one whose child killed another person, is probably why we may feel the outrage isn’t enough. Additionally, I think that such indignation typically attracts the security personnel’s notice, and once they are already managing the case, it’s normal for people to back down a bit. Until maybe when they sense an injustice in the handling of the case by the security agents.”
