Natalie Okri, a British singer of Nigerian heritage, has explained why she no longer wears wigs or human hair of any kind. The singer, who rose to fame at the age of nine for her performance of Alicia Keys’ “No One” on the British Got Talend show, claims in an Instagram story that wigs and human hairs have a fetishistic and evil quality.

She explains, “I quit wearing wigs and human hairs for three reasons: certain human hairs are sacrificed to various gods, demons, and deities. Some human hairs, but not all.

Many Asian women travel to temples to offer their hair as a sacrifice to their gods in the hopes that their deity will cleanse and purify them. They do this to rid themselves of all their bad luck, poverty, and other stressors and begin over. Additionally, people offer their hair as a sacrifice in the hopes of receiving blessings from their god. So they leave to make a new beginning.

“We Black women go to the vendors to purchase these hairs, which cost hundreds of pounds, after they sacrifice their hair in the temple and sell it to various large vendors.”

In the belief that they would be blessed by their gods and that they would shed all of their bad luck, these women offered their hair as a sacrifice, and we Black women are purchasing what they perceive to be their bad luck. We are putting someone else’s misfortune on our own heads. The frightening part is that, even if you don’t think they have a god, Christians view them as both demons and gods. Additionally, that contradicts my beliefs.

Additionally, you are unaware of the load or spirits you are carrying when you wear someone else’s bad luck on your head.

She then uses a few Bible verses to support her claims.
