Tems Joins the MLS Club Ownership Group of San Diego FC
Temilade Openiyi, better known by her stage name Tems, is a Grammy-winning Nigerian singer who owns the San Diego FC Major League Soccer (MLS) team in the United States. In a statement released on Wednesday, the American club said the musician had joined its executives.
The allegation claims that Tems’ company, The Leading Vibe, allowed her to purchase a share in the club.
Additionally, a cooperation with Pave Investments, an African private investment firm that worked on attracting investors for NBA Africa, helped broker the agreement.
Tems is now a club partner, according to the club, and the two parties have a “commitment to excellence and community engagement.”
Tems, a Lagos native, claimed that football is “a unique way of bringing people together” and expressed her excitement about “helping build something special in San Diego.”
The singer declared, “I am ecstatic to be a part of a Club that celebrates creativity, culture, and the power of community, as well as to join San Diego FC’s ownership group.”
“I am thrilled to contribute to the creation of something special in San Diego, a city that thrives on diversity and innovation, as football has a special way of bringing people together.”
Tems joins other world-renowned individuals as a partner of the San Diego club. Among the celebrities are World Cup-winning football player Juan Mata, former U.S. Navy SEAL Jocko Willink, pioneering actress Issa Rae, and founding partner and San Diego Padres’ consistent MLB All-Star Manny Machado.
