The article I want everyone to read. How’s it?
As the years graduate into decades and then into centuries, some modifications are being made in all walks and aspects of life—some are for the better and some get worse when the generation of that century try to modify the culture of their time. I’m not so concerned about the past century but this present 21st century.
THE 21ST CENTURY
The generation of this 21st century is one of the most_blessed generation that has ever existed. Most of the problems we would have encountered in this generation has been solved by the generation that came before us. They’ve made life easy through technology, the social media, the internet, and many other ways. Ever since the advent of these modifications by the former century, we have lived in comfort.
However, in this our wonderful 21st century, many things have gone wrong. The things that were once considered morally wrong are now the culture we have adopted and deemed fit to live by. We smile at the wrongs that happen at any interval of time but we frown at the right things—even when they’re done at the right time. In the past, our future mothers, our sisters, lived up to the moral standard of their time. They honed their skills in decency, cookery—they took out their quality time to discover their purpose, talent, gift and used it wisely to influence their community. In the past, our future fathers, our brothers, lived up to the expectations of their time. They worked tooth and nail to be fulfilled, they made honest wages/income and they lived out their life like role models.
Now, where have this our wonderful culture been buried?
Where are those men of dignity and women of vision?
Where are we?
It’s disheartening to see what has happened to this our blessed 21st century. On the average, every youth wants to make money. It’s okay to want to earn a living—but the way in which we have tried to do this is heartbreaking compared to what was done in the past. Our men of vision have indulged in dishonest ways of making a living and our women of speldour have also done the same.
On the average, every youth wants to have a relationship patner—however, the purpose of a relationship embedded in their hearts, is to have immoral sexual adventures, indecent body exploration and the rest. They don’t want to wait for the appropriate time (marriage). They make their patner (boyfriend/girlfriend/one they’re not yet married to) feel stupid and naive if they’re denied this indecent action—but this does not make the decent patner stupid or naive in any way instead, they’re acting on the high moral standards and quality discipline of their upbringing. In our 21st century, virgins are seen to be the most foolish and naive set of people—but this is not so, instead, they have taken the wise decision—to be virtuous. Even those that may not belong to the Virgin gang have decided that once penetrated, will always be penetrated. Whereas they could have kept themselves. This is a century in which a good percentage of husbands and wives are unfaithful to their patners. They move about looking for other women/men to taste from even when they have an obedient, humble and faithful patner waiting for them at home.
On the average, every youth wants to look good and respectable—but the 21st century definition of looking good is rather saddening. A purpose-filled man sags his trousers and flaunts his rough hair style to look good. A woman beautifully decorated with ideas and gifts, shows off her bosom in her upper wear (neck-to-the-waist), wears tight skirts/trousers/shorts that would show the shape of their buttocks and expose their beautiful laps (which are meant to be hidden and only revealed to the right person like a beautiful diamond) to look good. The fashion of the 21st century have made a lot of us derail in the purpose of our existence and made us fall out of our beloved track of vision. Is this 21st century culture of gross indecency really worth it?
On the average, every youth is on the social media—this is good because it helps us to reach out to ourselves either home or abroad, easier, faster and at a cheap rate. However, this social media is having a great part of us. We spend precious hours texting, sharing photos, and so on, on the social media. Time is one of our greatest asset but we’ve greatly neglected that, because our attention have been diverted to the social media—when that quality time could have been used to do something worthwhile.
Ever since the advent of the Internet, life has been made easier. Knowledge about anything exists on the Internet—but we’ve misused the Internet. Great children, youths and adults have notured the habit of learning something negative from the Internet. They spend their mobile data to surf the Internet to watch videos, see pictures and so on, of violence, pornography, deceit and the list goes on. This way of life has ruined many of us, we the people of the 21st century.
Everyday, more tricks are being invented to nuture people on how to cheat in business, exams, etc. This however has eaten really deep in our 21st century. This has brought more mediocrity than merit to this beloved our century. People hardly read or work hard nowadays. They noture the belief that cheating is better option and the best way for them.
This is one of the greatest epidemic (as I would describe it) affecting this generation. Corruption is a veil that has covered the eyes of a good percentage of the world’s population. In this 21st century terms like connection have been taken as a benchmark rather than hardwork and diligence.
Merit and excellence is being mocked at in this 21st century but mediocrity is uplifted like a king riding on his white royal horse.
The culture presented by our 21st century is an error to our existence. Why should we live a bad life whereas we could have a better life? The culture of our 21st century is not worth being lived by. We are more than what we make our self seem. We can soar above mediocrity. We can defeat corruption, negativity, cheating, hypocrisy, indecency, impure wealth, and so on, If we decide to. Let’s join hands together in love and fight against the decay of this our beloved 21st century.
The transformation begins with you and I. Let’s be transformed and transform others too in the right way.
Let’s do this for our personal lives,
Let’s do this for our respective countries,
Let’s do this for our world.
Cheers to excellence and greatness,
Cheers to a healthy 21st century,
Cheers to a healthy and positively minded world.
To your conquest,
Chidiebere Nwokedi (CANP).
