Tinubu’s Government Announces ₦38 Million Award For Outstanding Tax Reform Reporting

The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has launched a ₦38 million award aimed at encouraging quality journalism and in-depth reporting on tax reform, fiscal policy, and transparency in Nigeria.

This initiative, introduced through the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, seeks to recognize and reward journalists who contribute to public understanding of Nigeria’s evolving tax system. The award underscores the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and stakeholder engagement in the nation’s ongoing tax reform process.

According to the committee’s chairman, Taiwo Oyedele, the award is designed to promote accurate, insightful, and impactful storytelling in the media space, focusing on how tax policies affect citizens, businesses, and the economy at large. He emphasized that responsible journalism plays a vital role in ensuring that the public remains informed about key fiscal initiatives.

The ₦38 million cash prize will be distributed among winners in various categories, including print, broadcast, and online journalism. The competition is open to both established and emerging media professionals across Nigeria.

Oyedele also stated that this move aligns with President Tinubu’s broader agenda to modernize the tax system, reduce multiple taxation, and boost revenue generation without burdening ordinary Nigerians.

The announcement has sparked positive reactions from media stakeholders, who praised the government for recognizing the importance of journalism in shaping fiscal policy awareness and public accountability.

As Nigeria continues its journey toward tax reform and economic stability, the government’s investment in credible media reporting is seen as a step in the right direction — one that bridges the gap between policy implementation and public understanding.
