The Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District at the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, has won the senatorial seat for the third term.

Tinubu, who is the wife of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, scored 131,725 votes to defeat the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Adesunbo Onitiri, who scored 89,107 votes.

The senatorial district comprises of five local government areas, which are Apapa, Eti-Osa, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland and Surulere.

While the results from Lagos Island and Apapa local government areas were announced on Sunday, the details of the remaining three local governments were not announced during the declaration of the final result on Monday.

While declaring the winner, the senatorial district Collation/Returning Officer, Prof Elijah Oyeyemi of the University of Lagos, said, “The candidate of the APC, Tinubu Oluremi Sade, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.”
